Quick Synopsis: Bill has gone to Peru to keep working on his computer database. Sookie finds a naked Eric running through her woods on her way home, with no memory. They end up falling into bed together and into love. A vampire witch coven comes to town looking to take over the area (it was her curse on Eric) but she is defeated in what is known as the Witch War. Eric regains his memory, but loses the knowledge of what occurred with Sookie. Sookie doesn't tell him, since she killed Debbie Pelt right in front of him.
When Sookie finds vampire Eric stumbling on the road, not knowing who he is or anyone else, she convinces him to go home with her. After leaning Eric has been cursed by a coven of witches, Sookie agrees to let him hide out at her house.
Meanwhile, Sookie's brother, Jason, is missing and Sookie begins to look for him, convinced he was taken by the witches that are looking for Eric.

My oh my. Every book just gets better. I don't know how Harris is going to top this one!!!
Bill is in the book for maybe 20 collective pages and it's AMAZING. Vampire Bill in the books is totally boring and lame. I at least tolerate him in the TV series though. But anywho....
I love this book. Eric is totally hot.
These quicks books are great. They always pick up where the story left off then add a little more to the general series plot. And all of your questions are answered... they are just great!
I suck at writing reviews.

...I'm still a bit confused as to what the plot was. That, and very disappointed that Bill didn't really find out that Eric, his boss, had been banging his ex for weeks.
They say days. No way everything in that book happened in days...or this author tells it in a really boring way...

After dumping her unfaithful and undead boyfriend Bill, Sookie has had it with the vampire world, and the injuries that tend to occur as a result of her relationship with it. Unfortunately, such a severance does not exist in her immediate future. Sookie is shocked when she finds a half naked vampire running alongside the road at night. She's even more surprised when she discovers that it's Eric, and his memory has been completely wiped. She soon learns that Eric has been cursed by witches, who will do anything to get their hands on him. Sookie agrees to keep him hidden in his vulnerable state, but can't help but notice how much nicer Eric is without his memories. Will the now single Sookie be able to turn down the advances of a gorgeous, and kind vampire who's lusty feelings for her have not been erased?
Dead to the World is the third Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Series and, like the first three it's a ton of fun to read. Like the previous novels, it also expands upon it's supernatural world, by introducing us to witches, fairies and other types of shapeshifters. I was happy to see some of my favorite characters, such as the werewolf Alcide Herveaux, the vampire Pam, and the always humorous Bubba. I was surprised to see that Bill once again plays a much smaller role, and I have to wonder if Harris is phasing him out of the series or just giving the character a break. One thing I noticed right away was how much Sookie has grown from her naïve state in book one. Due to her separation from Bill, and Eric's state, she has to do most of the legwork solo this time around. I liked seeing her presented as a more independent character. Dead to the World also has an interesting story involving Sookie's brother Jason. Due to an overenthusiastic reviewer, I was spoiled in advance to the results of that plot line, but that doesn't make me any less interested to see how this dramatic change will impact him, and the role that he plays in future books.
Dead to the World has everything you'd expect to find from a Sookie Stackhouse novel, interesting characters, a suspenseful plot line, steamy sexual content, and quite a few laughs. A couple big changes happened this book, and I'm curious to see how they're going to impact future volumes in the series. This was also the first book that I did not experience as an audiobook, and I'm happy to say that they're equally satisfying in each format.

I decided to finally read the fourth Sookie book after I saw a preview for season 4 of True Blood. I got very over-excited and just had to start the book straight away putting on hold the book I was reading.
I really couldn't get into it at the beginning, I personally enjoy the show better than the books and when I first started the book I thought it's not going to be very good but gladly, I was wrong.
I loved it and this one is definitely my favourite book of the series so far.
In other book I loved Eric more than Bill and he has always been my favourite character so I was so happy that this book mainly centred on him.
Eric, who has lost his memory and doesn't remember anything about who he is is staying with Sookie in her house to protect him from the witches who did this to him. What Sookie doesn't count on is becoming extremely attracted to the new vulnerable Eric.
I loved this book, it was just incredible it had the best scenes in it and I really enjoyed seeing a new vulnerable unsure side to Eric. I totally fell more in love with him in this book and I can't wait to see what happens in the rest of the series.
I told myself at the beginning of this book that if I didn't enjoy it I would not read the others and I was thinking about giving up while reading the beginning of this book but as I read more I fell in love with the story more and ended up loving it. I can't wait to see what is in store for Eric and Sookie.

I always enjoy Sookie’s adventures! She still makes me smile with her Southern charm!

Why I Read It: I'm three books in. Why the hell not?
Now, I'm not in LOVE with this series or anything, but regardless, I think I can say that this is my favourite of the series thus far. I think this is in large part due to the New Eric. There was something incredibly endearing about him not being a douchebag (albeit an amusing douchebag). And the whole conflict with the witches was actually kind of engrossing (and had a crazy bloody resolution). So yeah, the most exciting and the most romantic of the Sookie books so far.
While Eric was definitely much cuter in his memoryless state, there was still some things that kind of annoyed me about his behaviour. For one, he was still oddly possessive of Sookie like Bill was (though not nearly to the same extent), and for two, he started calling her "my lover" all the time which annoyed the crap out of me. But other than that? I was rooting for them to get together and I was really curious how things were going to wrap up when Eric got his memories back.
The conflict with the witches expanded the supernatural world that Harris has created and I appreciated how gritty and gruesome she was willing to go with it -- I mean, we are talking about ruthless supernatural beings here, and Harris really let's them loose.
Final Verdict: Probably the best Sookie I've read so far. It had a decent mystery, and I liked the conflict with the witches. I also, despite myself, enjoyed the romantic devlopments between Sookie and Eric. This series is still just brain candy to me, this was just an extra fun dose of it.
