Cursed Eric is so entertaining! I must admit I miss Bill though ... were the ruins in Macchu Pichu worth it? Now that Charlaine Harris has outed vamps, weres, goblins, witches and fairies, what's next? What supes are left? Be afraid, be very afraid.

I had plans to read all of this year's big important books over the summer but I'm reading vampire romance instead. I'm not even sorry.

Sookie Stackhouse is my home girl. I like her a little more with every book. She reads genre fiction. She's sex positive. She does her best to keep her personal boundaries intact. She improves her vocabulary with word a day calendars. She's a good kid.

This book gave me some feels. I was skeptical of amnesia Eric. It was an interesting tactic to get him and Sookie together, but I knew it wasn't going to end happily. And now her brother might be an inbred were-panther. She really can't catch a break.

Delicious garbage. Helps with the vampire fix! =)

My favorite Stackhouse book

**Spoilers**

Sookie finally gets with Eric but her life is still a mess. In the fourth book of the series, Harris finally hits her stride in character development and plot. It's such a fun read!!

I think maybe it's time for me to take a vacation from Bon Temps. I just wasn't as into this one as the previous books, even though it featured my man, Eric. Also, this one just felt trashier than the others. Was it just me? Or am I experiencing a Sookie Overload?

I enjoyed this book, Sookie is granted a nice level of agency, and a very well built characterization. Eric was truly delightful in this book, the amnesia was well played. The plots hung together fairly well, particularly as a lead in to the next novel.

I love that Sookie handles herself. She has very real reactions to the action she is sometimes forced to, but she DOES take the action, which sometimes requires her to end the lives of others. This could be played up more, but the general tone of the novels derives from the Cozy Mystery, so I'll let any censure there pass. Plenty of novels take moral navel gazing and run into the blazing sunset with it; I don't feel too bad about Harris not doing so.

Admittedly, cozy mysteries with a hefty dose of female agency when it comes to action and, well, action, are just what I need right now. I was so reluctant to start these because I thought they'd just be too fluffy for me after Anita Blake. But it is being good for the soul in an entirely different manner.

As a cultural production, the series is definitely Interesting.
