Very introductory, but a light and informative read. I was afraid it would be too preachy, but it wasn't.

A great place to start if you know nothing about socialism (which is most people in the US :). Especially if reading the word ~socialism~ makes you flinch a little bit.

Propaganda book that discusses very little socialist theory itself.

Good intro, doesn’t get in depth with any subject. Interesting to read this since it was published in 2016 when Bernie was running for President the first time. Would be interested in seeing an updated version.

this is a nice quick sum-up of FAQs one may have about socialism.
but it's quite basic and it doesn't touch on a lot of subjects and answers. so i was a bit disappointed.

though it is called the ABCs of, so i should've known better to molde my expectations.

Does exactly what's on the cover.

The perils of getting such a wide range of authors to co author a book targeted to a skeptical newer audience is that you may get a wider range of topics but none of them are as in depth so as to keep a more experienced reader interested.

Overall this book, although attempts to introduce socialism to a new generation, the preconceived notions of the audience ensures that it is rather spent on reeducation of their prejudices. A change of title to A defense of socialism would not make anyone bat an eyelash

Jacobin continues to knock them out of the park.

Discusses a lot of basic questions about socialism while outlining a future I want to take part in.

They've made a free pdf available here: https://s3.jacobinmag.com/issues/jacobin-abcs.pdf

Got this at the Open Books half-off sale for just $4! Couldn't resist the cute illustrations and also felt like I could benefit from a socialism for dummies. It was created by Jacobin which made me trust it more. Took a minute for my brain to warm up (I guess since the last thing I read was a romance novel?) and it got more readable as time went on. Some sections were more interesting and helpful than others. I think the best thing it did for me was connect socialism to anti-war movements, feminism, and anti-racism.
