A light, silly read. Completely unrealistic, slightly cliché, but nice as an escape.
And clever! That "gender normative" joke almost made me choke on my icecream cone. (Even funnier coming from a misogynistic evil uncle like Freidrich.) It's the type of humor that takes modern culture and mentions it in historical fiction, and I fall for it every time. I mean, it's FUNNY. Uncle Friedrich claiming his diary is going to be the next Oprah's Book Club Pick? I'm telling you, this story is delightfulfully off its rocker.

This was a fun story that used a lot of storytelling patterns that I think would be entertaining for younger listeners. It used a very fairytale structure, lots of repetition, and a very simple plot to explore some fun characters and family dynamics. (As well as themes of trust and confidence!)

Would definitely recommend to first or second grade readers looking for a short, fun story along the lines of Junie B. or Skippyjon Jones (not related).

Definitely reminded me of A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The Flying Flamingo Sisters was a pretty cute and short audiobook. In it, you will meet Frannie, Flo and Faye Flamingo. Long story short, their parents and their lovable dog have disappeared. So they have jetted off to go find them. Along the way, they run out of fuel and start their own little adventure.

Once they entered the flying circus to make some money, I was hooked. I mean the whole evil uncle gunning for them and some mysterious map was entertaining as well. The sisters were just adorable and they seemed somewhat realistic. It was an entertaining read that unexpectedly ended on a cliffhanger. Not sure if there's going to be another little novella after this but I wouldn't be mad about it either.

Super cute book to listen to while taking care of other peoples animals. Definitely made me laugh out loud several times. Oh, the uncle reminds me of Robbie Rotten from LazyTown.

Cute story. Modeled on the old movie serials that were playing in the 20's, 30's , and 40's.

Second listen because my son didn’t get to hear all of it. He was engaged in the story.
