I enjoyed this history of Edisto Island, one of my favorite places. I’m inspired to explore more of the island as I’m more familiar with the beach area. I got a little bogged down with the lists of all the plantations and what happened to each one but enjoyed learning about the island’s Civil War history and the history of how the beach and Ocean Ridge areas were developed. I’ll try to tackle this author’s companion history book on the island predating the Civil War at another time.
