This read like a technical manual for the navy. While the story was vaguely interesting, you could cut out half of this book and it would be a lot quicker and more enjoyable. Much like the characters in the book, this felt like a whole lot of waiting around for something to happen. The few tense and exciting scenes in the book in no way made up for the countless paragraphs of jargon, phone calls, and moving from one place to another I had to endure to reach them. Even then, Tom Clancy found a way to make a submarine battle sound boring. I might have had a better appreciation for this if I knew more about naval terms and combat. As it is, wasn’t a big fan.
