Good plot but too much military jargon and planning for my taste. Would have made the book much shorter and a bit quicker paced. The movie was pretty darn faithful to the book though, so if you enjoyed that and don’t mind a lot of details it’s a good read.

The realism is astounding, but the suspense and characters don't quite live up to the reputation.

My first Jack Ryan and Tom Clancy book! I listened to the audiobook while I got some chores done. I have seen the film, and it followed pretty close to the original novel, which was solid. I may have to dig into some more of these novels.
Despite being a tad overlong and containing a bit too much unnecessary detail, this is still a solid Cold War thriller. It not only launched the career of Tom Clancy, who went on to sell millions, but was also responsible for one heck of a great popcorn thriller with the early 90s film of the same name.
Guess I've always had a soft spot for Connery's dodgy Russian accent.

What can I say, I am a Jack Ryan fan.
This was a great book, but the movie was (as usual) terrible in comparison. Clancy's books are wayyyy too long to turn into movies, I think.
