Jack Ryan's extremely nerve wrecking, tired, no good 18 days.
Last third was pretty great. Beginning and middle were slow. Lack of unique characterizations.

I liked this book a lot. Clancy does a lot of research which makes the story better and more in depth. In the beginning, the story is a little slow going. Clancy details a lot of background information, and people are just strategizing and trying to move around. However, things get exciting later, including two climaxes of the story.
The Hunt For Red October tells the story of Jack Ryan, a CIA agent, who's out to retrieve a Soviet submarine that is heading towards the US.
At times Clancy goes into seriously unnecessary details about how the technology works. It is infuriating when this happens and feels like I am reading a textbook, not a book with a plot.
Also I think the way Clancy depicts the Russians is from an extreme point of view.

A thrilling, political game of chess. No detail too small for Clancy in this epic!
