Thank heavens that's over! 1/3 plot, 2/3 military/technical manual--obviously well written, but very much not my thing. The last 30 pages make the book. I think I'll go watch the movie. #72/100 #greatamericanread

This is the first book by Tom Clancy and therefore in the way I am seeing it the first book in the Jack Ryan series.
There may be different ways of looking at it, but I am looking at it in publishing order.
Anyway a long book which doesn't sustain itself to the very end, but it is still quite a good read, and I look forward to the next book, at some point!
