I liked this book but didn’t love it. I felt like Isolde took a step back in her badassery. I know that there’s a lot going on and it’s really the world against her and Adrian but I hate that she lost so much confidence during it all. I did really like getting a lot of the back stories of the other characters and more from her and Adrian. I wish there were more chapters from Adrian’s POV because while he keeps making me mad I still love him so much.

The writing was stilted and cliched. Adrian is one of the blandest MMCs I’ve met and Isole is irritating and filled with a baffling amount of self confidence given her actual abilities. The sex scenes made me think the author is a man writing under a female pseudonym

I ran through the first book of the Adrian x Isolde series in 2 days. Wonderful read. This second book? It took me a week to get through this one. There was just so much going on and not in a good. I love some must as much as the next girl, but when the smut is ruining the plot it’s just useless. Every two second the characters are arguing and then fucking. Isolde annoyed the shit out of me. Adrian can’t seem to catch a break. I don’t even know who to root for due to the fact
I was really excited for this series. However, If I decide to finish it I’ll be a begrudging library read from now on.
