3.5/5
It was so hard to get through this at times, but the last third was much easier!
I don't even know what it is about it I didn't enjoy as much

While this one is good, it isn’t as good as the first and it felt rushed. Character development could have been done better, and there is plenty of conflict to keep you interested- but it all resolved for the most part too quickly and “easily”. This series could be AMAZING, but it is just meh because much like the first book, this one could have easily been two books. It’s good, but not great.

This book has an intriguing storyline, but I feel like the plot could be developed a lot more. I hate to be one of "those people", but there was way too much sex and not enough plot development. I think the story could have been progressed a lot, without feeling fuzzy or disingenuous.
As it was, the plot felt rushed and confusing. A lot of the "big" reveals felt really lackluster, as there was no big build up to them. I think Isolde's character could have had a lot of development with some of the changes that occurred for her in this book, but it just wasn't there.

I didn’t love it as much as the first book, but still couldn’t put it down. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I kinda think there was too much sex? I think it’s detracted from the rest of the book, and took away from Isolde’s character.
I’ll admit, I should have read the book description first rather than going on title alone. First, I had no idea this was the second in a series and I had to go back and find book 1 before starting this one. Second, I just do not like romance books. However, putting that aside, I still give this book only 2 stars. Why? Honestly, I found the characters to be annoying and not relatable. If I could have gone into the book to slap a few of them and tell them to get a grip I would have. It was frustrating to read and it saddens be because the basic bones of the underlying story are something I would want to read. I just wanted it to have characters worthy of the story, and they just weren’t. It looks like there is going to be a third book in the series and despite wanting to know where the story goes, I won’t be reading it. It might be someone else’s cup of tea but it isn’t mine.
