You guys, Brynne Weaver knocked it out of the park AGAIN! Only she can make a story about serial killer & contract killer a cute little rom-com ♥️

I adored the chemistry between Lachlan and Lark, and absolutely ate up their slow burn romance. Being the second book in the series, I also loved that the characters from the first book were integrated into the entire storyline rather than just a quick cameo.
There was a good amount of murder, death, and crafting gore (iykyk), as expected. Last time, this author ruined cookies and cream ice cream, this time say goodbye to beer and pizza 🫣. Compared to the first book however, you will see significantly less spicy scenes, it was fairly dry until the third act (and the bonus chapter).

My only complaint is that the antagonist didn't feel connected to the story overall; they were introduced in the beginning, vaguely alluded to throughout, and really only made a physical appearance during the climax. It just didn't seem to blend in well, as if it was an afterthought to give the MCs an enemy.

Genuinely one of the best romances I've read in a while. Not as dark as B&B, but still dark so check trigger warnings. Serial killer x contract killer. Lachlan Kane is a cinnamon roll with hardened edges to survive and I love him.

The way Brynne Weaver gets into serial killers' heads -not just the main characters who do what they do for a reason, but the actual psychopaths that are also in the story - it's very impressive and incredible how realistic it is.

Tropes: arranged marriage, hate to love, nicknames, banter! he falls first

I was loving the first book, but honestly this is my favorite now. I LOVE Lachlan and Lark's chemistry and all the little connections between them that gradually progressed through the book. I love how insane they are, both in general and for each other! And that CLIFFHANGER. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us in the last book. I'm on the edge of my seat with anticipation! But I gotta say, this book really made me look at my snow globe collection a lot differently now. 👀

Loved this book almost as much as the first one. Would have loved more killing though (didn’t ever think I’d say that). The characters were cute but I found there attraction to each other as husband and wife happened all f a sudden and didn’t match the pace of the story. Can’t wait for Rose and Fioon’s story.

Lark is Sloan best friend and singer. Lachlan is Rowan brother and contract killer.
