There are so many things I loved about this one, but something overall was missing for me and I can't quite put my finger on what. This one is for sure less gory than B&B so it makes for an overall "easier" read.

I feel like I wanted more shenanigans from Lark & Lachlan? More chaos? I think that's it. I loved both of them so much and I love Lachlan's protectiveness over Lark and her being the sunshine to his grump. I wanted to give Lark a hug so badly, I'm really glad she found someone she could entirely be herself with. Their banter was great, their utter love for the people they care about was so similar, it truly felt like they each found their perfect match. The plot was engaging and did have me hooked, but I felt like it was a little under developed. I feel like something was missing through it.

The spice, as always, SPICED. I was -- 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 and the bonus chapter!? JAW ON THE FLOOR.

Overall a really fun one, and it may be 100% a case of me and not the book, I wanted a bit more. Still highly recommend this series (check your tws as always!!!) and I am SAT for the next book.

Second book
Dark romance
Contemporary romance
Dark rom-com
3 POV
Marriage of convenience

This book was not as gripping as the first. The steaks weren’t super high and it felt like a place holder for the final book. I feel like the character arcs were decent, the story was fine….

The bad guy wasn’t super exciting. There was very little build up, with the 3 chapters in his PoV. I almost wish there had been more… it would have upped the stakes.

But it almost felt like the final chapters were out of order. I didn’t enjoy the whiplash of jumping around in the timeline.

It was a meh for me.

The first was better imo. This one really focused on how one of them really fucked up when they first met. I get that he messed up, but they milked it for a really long time. Made the book kind of stale for me. I also didn’t like the audio for this one as much as the first. It was still a fire audiobook but not as good as the first book.

Lark and Lachlan are not friends, not even lovers. But they get married to save the Kane brothers from being killed by Lark’s family. Larks family business has been targeted by a serial killer but they cannot figure out who or why. They are suspicious of the Cane brothers and have ideas to kill them until Lark marries into their family. Now, Lark and Lachlan need to find the serial killer targeting Larks family.

I wasn’t really interested in the serial killer subplot as much as the x-rated smut. Can’t wait until the next book is released.
