Super cute book. I never relate to main characters but I felt a close connection to this one. People constantly talking about romance all the time... Why can't we just talk about cool stuff like Halloween?? I felt so annoyed on her behalf, it was a good feeling to have a character represent my inner feelings for once.

I can see why middle grade elementary students and middle school students would like this book—Jen is a very relatable character in that she feels she’s not on the same wavelength as some of her other classmates. Everyone around her is suddenly interested in romance when she’s not, and that disparity between how people grow and how to navigate new emotions, I imagine, rings well with young readers.

Such a cute fall-themed graphic novel. It would be so cute for younger kids to read. It reminded me a lot of Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell, but with younger characters. Really good fall vibes for sure!

Love the illustrations. I love the encapsulation of the awkwardness of growing up.

Super cute follow up to Skipping Stones- and super excited for more to Jen's story. (Ends with a hint to a book 3 coming sometime...)
