Quite liked this! It's simple and short, I'd have liked to see the end a bit more developed, but it worked for me.

The tree-things, with their blue trunks and yellow needles, move. And perhaps they sense fear. And kill when they do. So how does Naomi not fear them? Her innocent 5-year-old, Richard, who doesn't even remember earth, regards them as playmates, but can she keep them safe?
