Notice it says "authorized" biography. Shifty already died before this book was written and I really feel the author took a LOT of liberties with this one. I'm a huge Band of Brothers fans...read the book, read a lot of other biographies, but this is the first time I've been a little angry. It's not a true account of what he thought and what he was feeling during these moments in war. In fact, the author makes kind of clear that Shifty never talked about the war. So I'd recommend skipping it.

Man, this is a weird, weird book. It's a biography, sort of, mostly based on interviews with friends and family and a few interviews with Powers himself, who passed away while it was being written, but it's written in the first parson? And makes a lot of stuff up? And copies dialogue from the show? So in the end it's more or less RPF? It's kind of trippy to read.

Anyway, that aside, it is written in dialect, and was very pleasant to read, so I'd qualify it as superior grade plotty gen, for the most part.
