Much better than book 6, but the ending felt rushed. I loved Ash and Jace, so I wanted more.

After a long hiatus, Raand issued a longish novella that continues the Midnight Hunters storyline. If you've read the series - you are going to pick this one up since Raand (Radclyffe) tends to stop her books with a lot of loose ends and the promise of "more to come" in the next book. If you haven't read the series this is not the one to start it with as it jumps right in with characters and references to events from the other books.

I'm a bit torn on this one - I liked the overarching plot of the series (I'm a sucker for paranormal and urban fantasy), but the individual books and characters annoy me to no end. I keep saying I'm not going to continue reading the series - but when a new book comes out, it somehow ends up in my hands. It's like virtual crack ... and I'm an addict.

There's lots of messy/squishy werewolves mating and it really just drags the story out - plot, dammit, I want plot! The whole dominance thing and the fact that I can not understand how they manage to get anything done when they seem to be walking, snarling, brooding, humping hormones irk me the most.

It was heartened that Raand introduces another group of Were's (note that the influx of new blood will likely lead to more pairings - and more books ) and hints at the larger conflicts to come. As well, Raand is finally introducing at least the idea of mages (they are one of the Praetern races but have been never really had any mention or involvement in all the plots, counter plots and conspiracies).

An alpha comes asking for help when her captain disrupts the negotiations by trying to mate the other pack’s captain.

Sex is on the mind of multiple people in L.L. Raand’s Rogue Hunt. I will not say much as this is a novella and most of the action that takes place in this story revolves around the couples and whether they will or will not have sex. Alpha Sylvan Mir makes up for lost time with her mate while dealing with council and deciding whether to help Snow Crest Alpha Zora Constantine. In the meantime, both of their captains cannot keep away from each other as their attraction builds with each contact. There is also the attraction between Alpha Zora and a trainer for the Weres. Then there is question as to what exactly will everyone be fighting if they decide to form an alliance with the Snow Crest as even their Alpha cannot accurately describe the danger that awaits them.

Let me just say that the sex is quick (laugh), maybe because it is a novella but these shifters do not require much in foreplay nor in actual action. I did like the chemistry between Ash and Jace, but I think I would have like more communication but once again this is a novella so it is just a bridge to another book. I enjoyed this quick glimpse into the “Midnight Hunters” series and I have to say it makes curious to read some of the other novels. Stay tuned as one is bound to appear here soon!
