Although I can't recall a single plot detail, I remember being really struck by this one. I read this (along with Eklund's other Trek novel) at a time in my young life when I was emersed in the Original Series adventures of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and the rest. What I truly loved about this and the other Eklund Trek novel is how they offer a somewhat alternate version of the Enterprise and Her crew. The tone of these novels doesn't exactly match that of the show, and the characters don't quite speak or behave the way they do on the show, and I remember finding that to be exhilarating!

An intriguing story to read. The unusual aspects of the world discovered a fascinating thing to learn about and attempt to understand.

This felt like it could actually be a TOS episode. The suspense of what was going on was well done. Poor Uhura though,
she saw her dad after years only for him to be a zombie that Kirk's furry girlfriend brains to death.

This was... surprisingly well written?
I'll admit that after reading The Planet of Judgement from the same collection I was a little wary, but this was a pleasant surprise. Nothing extremely groundbreaking aside from the interesting concept of the Dyson's sphere, but the characters were all there and it was extremely funny to see a fluttered Spock at the end.
Overall, a pleasant read.

An enjoyable read rather like The Final Frontier in some respects. Creepy in places, and without a thorough explanation, but interesting and engaging for all that.
