I loved Vi Keeland's fighter books, but I wasn't sure about a rockstar book. I let it sit on my Kindle for way too long. Let's just say I am kicking myself for not reading it earlier. Flynn Beckham his a heart melting panty wetting rockstar that I would proudly follow. Not only is he gorgeous, but a wonderful family man as well. Flynn adores his niece, Laney, and his sister, Becca. Flynn is supposed to be the opening act for Dylan Ryder, egotistical stereotypical rockstar. While Flynn made me gush, Dylan made me cringe. He is man that wants his woman and eat others too. No one else's ego can fit in a room if he is in it. His woman is Lucky, owner of a bar and daughter of rock legends. Lucky had wanted Dylan since she was a teen. She meets Flynn at her bar while he is waiting for Dylan, a no show. Let the tap dance begin. Flynn and Lucky know there is a connection, but Dylan comes between them. Watching Flynn and Lucky fight/deny emotions was funny. Watching them go behind Dylan was wonderful. Of course egomaniacs don't give up easily. Dylan isn't beyond blackmailing, terminating contracts, false publicity, and backing Lucky into corners. I do love Karma.

This book's tropes didn't bother me, but I know that one of them in particular is something a lot of folks have issues with. That said, I really enjoyed this book. To put it generationally for me:  Imagine you went from having Jordan Knight on your walls, to actually dating him, and then you met JC Chasez. What's a girl to do? There's a fine line to walk in a triangle to really have tension by not making the reader really hate either character. Vi Keeland did a great job maintaining the tension through most of the book to keep me engaged. I love the tagline about being stuck between a rock (star) and a hard place. I listened to this book on audible without knowing it was the 2nd in a series, and it still worked well. The audio narrators were great too. I would recommend this book, and I intend to go back and read the 1st in the series.

I absolutely love Vi Keeland's stories, and I knew that I was going to love this book before I ever read it. Beat is a standalone sequel to Throb, which is where we first meet Flynn Beckham. You do not need to have read that book first, but I would highly recommend starting there because it's a great story and because you get to meet Flynn. I loved Flynn before and I didn't think it was possible to love him more, but Vi Keeland proved me wrong and he only got better in Beat.

Growing up, Lucky had Dylan Ryder's poster on her bedroom wall. Now ten years later, she is his girlfriend. Dating a rockstar was every girl's dream, and yet Lucky knew that she wanted more. When she meets Flynn Beckham sparks instantly fly and she finds herself drawn to him in a way she never has been with Dylan. But things get complicated when Lucky finds out that Flynn's band is the new opening act for her rockstar boyfriend's tour. What happens when Flynn and Lucky continue to grow closer and it gets harder to fight the connection and chemistry they are feeling?

I absolutely loved Flynn. I had loved him in Throb, but I knew that he wasn't meant for Kate. I had really hoped that we would get his story, and I was so happy to get to know him better in Beat. He was never right for Kate, because he was perfect for Lucky! Flynn was even more of a nice guy than I had ever realized, and I absolutely adored him with his niece Laney. Flynn would have done absolutely anything for her, and it was clear that he loved her so much. He was a great role model for her, and I liked seeing that he had a soft side. He was sexy and charming, and I really enjoyed seeing how confident he was that he would win Lucky. Lucky was easy to like, and I loved how normal she was. She had famous parents and could have had such a different life, and yet she was nice and down to earth. She was fun and it was easy to see why she would have such a strong connection with Flynn. These two just understood one another, and they connected on every level. The chemistry and attraction was there from the beginning, but it was the connection that they were building that really made these two so special.

Overall, another winner from Vi Keeland and I am seriously convinced that she could write absolutely anything and I would read it. I love her characters and her stories, and I am always captivated right from the start. Beat is sexy and sweet, and I couldn't put it down. Flynn Beckham is one of the best heroes I have read in a long time, and I know that I am going to have a tough time getting over this book. I highly recommend Beat and Throb if you haven't read them, and if you aren't reading Vi Keeland you are seriously missing out! This book is definitely worth the read, and I am already anxious to see what Vi Keeland writes next.

I have a feeling I would have enjoyed this book more a few years ago, but my tastes seem to be changing and I’m generally pickier. Beat is a love triangle so by its very nature Lucky is torn between two men. However, there’s torn and then there’s deciding but being too much of coward to actually follow through.

Lucky is a vocal coach. Her boyfriend, Dylan, is a rock star and it’s established early on that he’s conceited, insecure, and a bit controlling at times. I didn’t like him, but at least he genuinely cares about Lucky and is good to her overall.

Lucky falls for Flynn, an up and coming rocker who is on tour with Dylan’s band. Despite their intense mutual attraction, Lucky reassures herself over and over and over and over again that she is not a cheater. Spoiler alert:
SpoilerShe cheats.
She knows she wants to be with Flynn, but Dylan has been good to her so she just needs time to “figure things out”. This process involves stringing both men along because she’s too afraid to act. Flynn is so into Lucky that he tolerates her returning to her boyfriend’s bed at the end of every day. Dylan is so egotistical and so into Lucky that doesn’t catch on that she’s interested in another guy. And because I didn’t see Dylan as a huge villain, I wound up feeling sorry for both men.

Maybe if Lucky had witnessed some of Dylan’s inappropriate behavior – which could have been emphasized more – it would have pushed her to make a decision earlier. As it is, the amount of time she takes to “figure things out” lasts long past the expiration date of my patience.

I didn’t find any side of this love triangle to be particularly enjoyable, but the music lover in me is always a sucker for a rock star romance.

In the words of Hannah Montana, I might even be a Rockstar.

Beat was so good. I didn't even know it was the second book in the Life on Stage series. I just saw the book on audible, clicked, and devoured it. Everything about this from the couple to the romance was likable. Not going to lie, I enjoyed every second of this book.

The one thing I would change is the whole love triangle deal. Ugh, I just don't like them and sometimes they work. It's rare for me to like them and I was definitely getting fed up with certain things in this one. Heck, at one point I didn't even care to see who ended up with who.

In the end, it was predictable and cute. One series down and I'm onto another.

I loved him instantly! I also loved everything about Lucky! They had so much chemistry my pages simmered! I received a arc from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Didn't love it as much as I wanted to... the past Vi Keeland books that I've read have blown my mind and kept me interested. This one kept me long enough to finish it and that's about it. I never really connected with Lucky and I didn't feel like the guys were well developed. I really wanted to love it... kept me until the end but in comparison to her other books, this one is lackluster.

"I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?"

Yes, yes you can. And that's how I felt about this book. The writing was decent but the story was just okay for me, and a little frustrating at times. Maybe this is why I shouldn't read books with love triangles/cheating because I get angry when it's so obvious who the guy needs to be at the end but the girl won't make up her mind. Then I just end up skimming most of the story to find out who she chooses.
