i set myself a challenge this year to genuinely try and read more classics as i do feel like i am missing out on a whole section of the literary canon. i decided i would start small, choose a book in a second hand bookshop and if i didn't like it then at least i hadn't wasted my money. even if this is the only one i read all year, i'm happy that i gave it a go.
i don't even know if i liked this. mostly i'm just very confused by what was going on and i think i would definitely benefit from a reread because as soon as i let my mind wander for more than few seconds, i would end up endlessly lost when my brain refocused on the text. however, i did end up underlining a handful of lines that stuck out to me so there were definitely elements i liked but there was also definitely parts that i very vehemently did not like.
i'm glad i tried it. new things are almost always good to try if for no other reason than to work out what you don't like. i don't know if i would read camus again but i'm not going to say never and i don't know if i would recommend this. you gotta work that one out for yourself.
