I got to this book through David's article written for the Newyorker on 2017. His article had a sobering effect on me, I questioned what was the point of trying if we're doomed anyway. I searched hard for answers which ultimately led me to this book. It's once again a sobering read but provides a deeper insight into all the points he mentioned, giving me a better understanding of why certain things are happening and what is to come. It gives me hope to know that there are solutions out there ready to be employed. But at the same time, frustrating to know that there many obstacles to doing so.
The only critic I have is that some of the language used is too technical and would require a tad more explanation for the layman's understanding. But overall, an incredibly interesting and insightful read.

DNF 50% wanted to love this book. A very difficult read- it should be it’s about climate change. Found it really repetitive. It struggled to keep my attention despite this being a topic I’m so interested by. Hope I can try it again, maybe when I’m in a better mindset.

Veldig skremmende. Bra med kilder.
Disconcerting overview of the science of climate change and how warming is likely to affect earth and human civilization in the broadest sense. I found the first part the strongest, describing the feedback loops amplifying the effects. A longer version of the famous article. The second part is more philosophical and speculative, like science fiction except with reasonable probability. Maybe I would have given it 4 stars in terms of enjoyability as a book, but the book deserves the highest rating if only to help convince more people to read it.
Interesting and frightening. I struggled with the overall structure of the text, and noticed several redundancies. I felt that the text could have been more reader-friendly in that regard, but appreciate the time and research the author took to present the information, even if I wished it had been easier to digest! I’ve never highlighted a text more than I have this one and definitely see myself referring back to my highlights during conversation regarding the climate and global warming.

This is a must read book on climate change.
Reading this book honestly made me feel considerably more anxious about the state of our earth. However, he’s right—the reality is that the situation is absolutely dire, and if we don’t do anything about it soon then we’re all f*cked.
I do have a couple of criticisms about the book: 1) I wish it was written in more straightforward language (yes the writing was beautiful but he could’ve said the same thing in less words), 2) some parts felt a little repetitive.
Overall, great book though. Honestly at this point everyone should be aware of the state we are in, and thus I’d highly recommend this to anyone and everyone.
