First of all, this isn't a prequel to be read before the series. I couldn't remember, so that's what I did this time around. It fits better between books 3 and 4. But on to the substance. I like the way the story is told: as Roland telling Alexa about his childhood. I love making the connections between this book and his story and the other books. It was good. Not the best. But it was cool getting the history of the Warvold brothers. I'm currently thinking of reading it for 2nd time.
