Decent continuation, even more economics and business set-up in medieval and victorian style settings, with some other funky stuff going on. It remains interesting as an escape and I know way more about the differences between mercantilism and classic economic theories than I ever did before.

Good, but disappointing for Stross. I think it's just the style of novel. Not as revolutionary as is harder SF. That also seems to extend to the plot.

This book started exploring the third world and hidden family suggested by the first novel in the series. But, I did like how he did the parallel world stuff and I don't think there are enough parallel world novels out there.

Ok character development.

A great sequel to the Princess Diaries meets Breaking Bad adventure.

I still feel like I didn't fully understand what was going on. But I appreciated it nonetheless.

3 1/2 stars. Again, no real ending, just unresolved stuff leading to the next book. Also, I didn't like whatever bit of end there was. I enjoyed the book up until the non-ending ending.

A reread of the 2nd book in the Merchant Princes series. And as a reread I found it more enjoyable than book 1. Perhaps the books did ramp up - so far I haven't checked my previous write-ups. Still bubblegum - but enjoyable bubblegum with interesting ideas of taking advantage of parallel worlds to boot. 4.5 of 5.
