An interesting insight onto a mental illnesses that I didn't know much about. Especially I found interesting the medical history behind it because as much as the whole family behind it was extremely insightful, I also found that oftentimes voyeuristic in a way in which the constant pain was heightened and portrayed. It felt deeply intimate and I don't know whether I liked the portrayal which I also found due to the style rather boring at times. Unlike the medical history which felt interesting and insightful and something that I feel isn't portrayed much or I didn't have too much knowledge onto.

Overall an informative and interesting experience.

 Hidden Valley Road was kind of a ripper. A family had 12 kids, 10 of whom were boys, 6 of whom grew up with varying degrees of schizophrenia. This book acts as both a scientific case study of the various programs of treatment and discovery and a humane but frightening history of what it was like to exist in the household. Reads like a thriller, a solid recommendation with the caveat of dark content.
