Not a big horror guy, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with a solid little horror novel.
It takes it's time towards the beginning to set the stage and introduce the players ,but once I had read to about 80-90 pages, I was locked in, especially since the book is so short.
Cool spoopy premise. I hadn't read the Fall of the House of Usher before, but I imagine this gives the original story an interesting twist.
Who knew B̶u̶n̶n̶i̶e̶s̶ Hares could be so unsettling...

If you read Mexican Gothic and was like man all that fungus stuff was cool but I wish there’d been a knight, this is the book for you.
It’s an interesting retelling of Poe’s old tale, keeping the tone and mood without making it feel old. It helps that it has some fun gender stuff going on.
Also, the “did I have fun”-metric remains unbeatable and I sure did have fun.

As someone who had a fascination with Poe when I was younger (even have a raven tattoo, I know, very cliche), this was a wonderful retelling. I was even creeped out and on the edge of my seat even though I remember The Fall of the House of Usher from when I was a kid.
