What a breathtaking novel! The descriptions of the natural world and the people inhabiting it are gorgeous. Prodigal Summer had enough plot to keep me going, but felt calm, soothing, and hopeful. I grew invested in the characters but did not feel overwhelmed by them. I am amazed by Kingsolver's craft and how she gradually weaves the multiple storylines together. Perfection. Read if you enjoy: nature, multiple storylines, layered plots, Appalachia, rural settings, family stories, broken people trying to heal
Minor: Death
brief mention of hunting
