Perhaps I am too dense, but the sheer amount of metaphors and allegories made it practically incomprehensible. What I did take away from the story wasn’t even enjoyable. It was a dragging tale of othering—a woman who always felt like the weird outcast all her life.

Honestly this book made me feel stupid because I just didn’t understand half of she wrote. And her run-on sentences made it extremely difficult to read.

 This book just wasn’t for me. I’ve gotten better at not forcing myself through books I don’t enjoy within the first 50 pages—so this one ended up as a DNF.

For a bit there I was considering 2 stars but the end really pulled me in further. The surface story is simple and uneventful but the depth is everything. My review is basically for myself, but reviewer Candi is very spot on (although had a different overall impression from it.)
