Susan Mallery is one of my go to authors for a feel good story! This book was no exception! Not just a romance, this book was aslo about family. I loved the relationship between the sisters and how they supported each other through their breakups. Though I liked all their stories, I liked Ali the most. I really liked how she transformed herself throughout the book, and Daniel was a great character as well. The only character I didn't like was the mom--she was crazy. She was obsessed with the sisters giving her grandchildren. As a child free (by choice) woman, this really irked me. She was totally over the top.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! If you're a Susan Mallery fan, this one is not to miss! That lovely cover and setting of the story were delightful in this dreary winter weather!

This book was exactly what I wanted. It was what I expected and I loved it. Very typical, but who cares.
This was my first book written by this author and I'm comfortable with it being my last. The basic plot was fine and enjoyable enough, but the characters often felt like caricatures. Talk about over-the-top ridiculous reactions. One minor character decides she can't be friends with another character because that character decides to be a surrogate. The mother and the father never seem to have a normal reaction to anything. So much just wasn't believable and I prefer my realistic fiction to be a tad more realistic.
If you are willing to completely suspend your belief in what is and is not normal behavior then you may really enjoy this book.

This was a good book but it didn't completely work for me. I really loved one of the sister's stories but the other two never really came together for me (Ali worked for me and the others were fine but didn't grab me like Ali's did). It's not that it's not worth reading - it is a solid read but it's difficult for me to give more than 3 stars with 2/3 of the story line didn't grab me. I kind of wished the entire book had been about Ali's story with her sister's stories taking a smaller focus of the book. I still recommend it especially for a day by the pool or on the beach.

I. Freaking. LOVED this book!!! Seriously wonderful. Three sisters whose lives all take very interesting turns at the same time and have to figure out who they are and where they want to go. So glad I read this book and already planning to read it again!!
Really liked the story, would love to see what happens to each of sisters in the future!
I had been looking forward to California Girls for months and I happy to say I was in no way let down. I have read many other stand alone books my Susan Mallery and while they have all been great California Girls is my new favorite. I loved the blend of family dynamics and strengthening friendships throughout the book and love the resolutions of all the characters. Highly recommended!
Susan Mallery writes women who are real and lovable and fun, and this book was no exception. I loved seeing the growth of each of these characters as they found themselves. This was an easy, but emotional and fun read, perfect for the beach!
