It was cute! The third act breakup definitely knocked this book down because him getting so pissy and not giving her the benefit of the doubt was not great. For how upset he got, he then forgave her immediately.

When Rosie inherits a quaint Scottish bookshop, she discovers it comes with a magical matchmaking twistโand a broody, bird-loving Scotsman, Alexander MacTavish. The story weaves together heartfelt moments, witty banter, and enchanting matchmaking mishaps, all set against the backdrop of a picturesque Scottish village during Christmas. Rosieโs sunny disposition perfectly balances Alexanderโs gruff exterior, creating an irresistible opposites-attract dynamic. The magical elements add a whimsical touch, while the puffins and a meddling book club bring humor and charm. The narration by Amy Landon and Will Watt adds an extra layer of enjoyment, with Wattโs Scottish accent making the story even more immersive. This book is a cozy, feel-good holiday treat perfect for fans of festive romance with a sprinkle of magic and loads of spice.

Tricia O'Malley's Highland Hearts Holiday Bookshop is a Christmas must for the lover of romance and the comfort found in a happy ever after.
I loved this from the first page to the very end where I couldn't stop smiling at the joy I'd found in the book. This is my introduction to this author, and I've firmly placed them in my favourite authors' list.
Given the location of a wintry Highland village, I'd suggest to any prospective reader to make a large cup of your favourite warm drink (or a dram of a good whisky), that warm blanket you always love when it blows a gale, and curl up and enjoy an introverted Scot, an American girl out of her depth but surrounded by her idea of peace in a Bookstore, puffins and a good sprinkle of magic whether it's because they're a Cailleach or destiny has woven its spell.
This was everything I could ask for, I loved the author's world-building felt the cold wind on my skin, and heard the call of the birds. There for me, was the nostalgia for my true homeland in my heart, and for the wonder I felt stepping into the small independent bookstores I explored as a child when north of Hadrian's Wall.
Expect the joy of a love story, alongside so many emotions as friends become lovers and the chaos of everyone knowing everyone else's business comes into play. I loved the element of magic that was woven in, masterfully to remind us all that the Scots believe in so much we cannot see.

I should have DNFโed but I decided to power throughโฆ
small thing that shouldnโt have bothered me as much as it did but the logistics of the window decorating contest made no sense to meโฆ WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE TO MAKE DIFFERENT WINDOW DISPLAYS EVERY WEEK? Is it a tournament style? Are only like 10 places competing? Is this a nationwide thing? What is happening with this contestโฆ
also the third act break up was dumb as hell and had me rolling my eyes
