This is the kind of book I would've ejoyed at 13. Well, I'm not 13 and it became glairingly obvious I don't enjoy reading teen romance.
The book was boring and the chronological order was confusing. At times I couldn't understand when a flashback ended and present day began.

A coming of age story that is relatable and brought  me back to my fifteen year old self. To be honest, I kind of liked the  shows take on the story a bit more than I liked the book itself. That being said, I still really enjoyed the book, and the way the story is told.

At times though, Belly really bothered me with the way she treated some of the people around her. Some comments that were made throughout the book rubbed me the wrong way as well (i.e., the authors use of “gay” in a seemingly negative way).

After watching the show (those of you who read before the show, please don’t hate me lol), I was really excited to read this book. And although I enjoyed it overall, I wasn’t as impressed as I had hoped to be. I will continue reading the series though!

I really enjoyed this book. I originally picked it up because I love the To all the boys I’ve loved before series. It’s nothing like that. Belly is a very annoying main character, but personally, I loved how self centered and annoying she was. I thought it was accurate. As someone who grew up spending most of my summer at the beach with other kids, I really loved all of the relatability. I was disappointed that not a lot happens plot wise in the book, but it made me interested enough to get the second book.
