this was a fast read due to the pace and great dialogue, but damn. the chapter with all those names was deeply haunting. i enjoyed the confrontation with the usa's history and legacy of lynching and racism, and as a non-american, i learnt a lot (e.g. the rock springs massacre, the lynching of the walker family, etc). the ending was a little too open-ended with a couple of un-answered questions, and it fell a little flat,. but still, it was great and harrowing.

I loved everything about this book. It was laugh-out-loud funny, had a unique cast of characters, was rooted in the tragic history of this country but also forward-looking at the same time. An extremely original and effective way to delve into our past history of lynching and the current racism that infiltrates every step we take as Americans. This would also make a terrific funny horror movie.
