Such a powerful message. Everett exposes America for being the highest hypocrite it is.

“Everybody talks about genocides around the world, but when the killing is slow and spread over a hundred years, no one notices. Where there are no mass graves, no one notices. American outrage is always for show. It has a shelf life.” (Though I agree, the genocide in Palestine is and has been ongoing and the world has stayed silent and complicit).

Loses points for me only because I’m not a big fan of magical realism and the plot became repetitive (deliberately) and I get why. The ending lost me a little as I would have preferred a more definitive conclusion, but a good read. Also, weirdly able to make you laugh despite it highlighting the atrocities committed against African Americans throughout history.
