Wow WOW that ending. I just... wow. This world just sucks me back in like it is nothing. The political intrigue that is pushed aside for violence and actually letting the characters cause so much death? Wonderful.
Can't wait to see how this will end.

I don't even know what I would do if I had to wait to read the next book right now. Moment of silence for everyone that read this as soon as it came out.
This series man. I knew, I KNEW from the first book that it was going to be good, even if I thought the first two books were kind of lukewarm for me. After book 3, I had no idea what to expect. Now at book 4, I'm. I just. Kel is crazy, that is all I have to say. She. This plot line, the things that happen in these books. Insane. I'm really rendered speechless. I have to go and read the last book now.

5 stars but I want to take off all the stars because I hate tragic endings. The ending here was absolutely brutal and not in a good way. I so wanted to see Quinn and Lazarus get married at the end of the series, have children while ruling with an iron fist. But with the way things have gone I’m not too sure that Quinn will be back for good now.
For the most part I really enjoyed Quinn and Lazarus’s chapters. Some chapters like Risks and Draevens seemed just there as a way to complain about Quinn or add in another love story. For me it’d be better if Risk spent years getting over her trauma rather than moving on. I’m not saying that she isn’t over as shown half way through the book where she lost it at what Quinn was insinuating between them. But it should have taken her longer to start trusting Lord Sunshine. I found Axe and Vaughn to have been mostly forgettable in this book. Sure Axe had a few scenes but she didn’t really do anything other than abandoning Risk at the end...
Furthermore, Lazareth you fool! He was supposed to be smart and cunning yet he played into Nero’s hands. He was warned by his right hand that inviting the blood heirs wasn’t a good idea instead followed the council of his intolerable noble followers who he knew couldn’t be trusted yet spent a long time trying to appease them. Draeven- ugh, I didn’t like him in the first book and still don’t like him in this.
Anyway I cannot wait for the final book. And need to see how this series is concluded... please be a happy ending. Please be a happy ending. Please be a happy ending.
