I feel really conflicted about this book.

On one hand, it completely moved me. I laughed, I cried and I genuinely felt for the characters. The story was engaging and I was invested right to the end.

On the other hand, I found many elements of the story to be unrealistic. The characters didn't feel like relatable people so much as caricatures, the romance chemistry felt a little out of nowhere and the ending of the book was really chaotic and rushed in its goal of tying up loose ends. You really have to suspend your disbelief for this read.

It took a lot for me to get into at the beginning. It was quite slow. But when Teddy and Ruthie’s relationship started it really went from 0 to 100 real quick and I fell in love with their characters and their relationship. If you’re a sucker for
happy endings
then this book is for you. Would’ve gotten a 5 star if it wasn’t so much of a slow burn.

This was fine. I felt like the last 1/3 was rushed and could have used more work. Very white characters (except one).
Both Ruthie and Teddy’ at on journeys to heal from childhood trauma. They can’t do it without each other though. Both need to believe in themselves to help heal.

I gave this a try on the strength of the Hating Game, despite 99% Mine not working for me at all, and unfortunately it was another miss. Thorne's dialogue just doesn't make sense to me and I don't get much from the characters.
