I almost DNF’d at like 60% after just not touching it for a month, but I took the train today and needed something to read and so I picked it back up, and I’m very glad I did.

It took me a while to get into the more flowery language of this book, and it took me a few chapters to understand exactly how many boys there are.

Great vibes, fun time, will continue the rest of the series.

I think that I hyped this book up for myself too much. I was so excited to dive into this book, but it ended up not fleshing out as nicely as I wanted it to. I definitely enjoyed this, and I love the magical realism aspect of the novel, but the storyline of the quirky girl hating the popular/rich boys but then suddenly becoming friends with some anyways is a bit overdone to me.
I also wasn't completely invested in the book, which unfortunately may be because I read it as an ebook instead of a physical book.
From the beginning, I wanted more of Noah and to know more about him; I think he's an interesting character (and did even before the plot twist). I'm not really a fan of Adam; something about him bothers me and I'm not totally sure why, but I just don't really like him.
Hopefully the series gets better as the books go on, and I will be continuing with the series.

finally a new series to take over my life while i wait for alecto the ninth chour

Well, this isn't going to infect my brain completely - yet, I suppose - but, man are these endearing characters. I wouldn't read this for the fantasy worldbuilding since there's... hardly any lmao, but the cast is cute and play off each other so well. Love Blue's family, love Blue herself; despite toeing the line of being a not-like-other-girls protagonist, she comes across to me as quirky in a sensible, grounded way. (Also, she's a style icon.) I have, because reasons, associated the Raven Cycle with Ouran High School Host Club almost against my will and this really helped with endearing Gansey to me. Actually I just like Gansey in general. Good on Stiefvater for making an out-of-touch pansy rich boy so cute to me.
SpoilerI don't yet buy that he has chemistry with Blue, but their current dynamic (written and... visual ngl sjakhd HIS POLO AND BOAT SHOES PLS) is interesting enough for me to want to see more. Adam is kinda boring with Blue though man's just poor.

Hauntingly beautiful. The plot had its twists and turns, but it was a bit confusing at times. What really made this book special was the characters. I found myself emotional invested in each one, and I was begging to know more about them with each turn of the page.

I really enjoyed this novel, and look forward to continuing the series.
