This is a story, within a story, within a story. I love Kate Morton's books but this one took me a while to get into. Each story is extremely detailed, a little too detailed in my opinion as it takes away from the main plot somewhat. However, once I'd finished it, I wanted to go back and read it all over again, to really understand how all the details lead to the conclusion. It's so long that I found myself flicking back to find details that I'd forgotten as the story develops. I would definitely recommend it, perhaps not if you only read a little each night, like me.

I absolutely loved this book. The first book I have read in a long time that kept me up at night reading. I loved the descriptions of the scenery, the moving between past and present, the depth of the characters. A joy to read.

Enthralling, I guessed the twist but it wasn’t too obvious. Dragged on a bit

Kate Morton is one of my favourite authors. Homecoming was not one of her best though. I can never usually guess the twist and this time it was very obvious halfway through the book. It was a very slow read until the last 100 pages. Also, I didn’t like the “book within the book” idea. I feel like Morton could have come up with a better idea than that.

This was a really good book but took forever to read

Australia past and present, little bit of London. A very good, twist and turny, multi character murder mystery. Dk how I feel about Nora… feel v bad for Polly. I liked reading a book inside the actual book.
slow-paced

A mix of an epic saga following 3 generations of women through their lives in Australia and England and a suspense-mystery novel with a murder everybody is trying to solve.
It was long and draggy in parts, and, for as many pages as I read, I still don’t feel like I knew any of the characters especially welll. The story was ok, and the twists at the end interesting (although some I had figured out before they were revealed), just not great.
