I have not stopped thinking about this book for the last three days. A beautiful and poignant short read written entirely in verse. This managed to somehow break my heart and heal it at the same time.

When we first meet Moth she has been grieving the death of her family, after a car accident that split the family car in half like a candy bar.  She's only existing and then she meets Sani, a biracial teen boy with a difficult home life.  They run away together for the summer, with a road trip and an eventual arrival at Sani's dad's Navajo reservation.

This book broke my heart and healed me at the same time.  There's beauty in the words, and the author also narrates, adding additional emotion to each word.  The sad parts made me cry and the happy parts made me cry happy tears.

This is a novel-in-verse everyone should read.

This was a book I didn't know I needed. It was so well crafted that I thought of the things that came in the end at the beginning. It was well written.

I would definitely recommend this to folks who want poetry & a story, not just a story broken into verses.

The writing is beautiful but I couldn't connect to the story or the characters at all. It's sad and beautiful, and I can appreciate that, but this was a slog for me.

Beautiful language and interesting concept, but I do feel like I got M. Night Shamylan’ed. This would be interesting to reread.

3.5 stars, rounded up. I’m a sucker for novels-in-verse, and this one had a twist I didn’t see coming. Fun read.

Gorgeous. It was a really bad idea to listen to this in a public place. *Crying emoji*

The notes at the end were a great addition.

This is my first book written in verse that’s not exactly a poem. Loved every word! The writing is beautiful, poetic, emotional, and powerful. The storyline is heart wrenching from beginning to end. The twist was impeccably placed, the conclusion was bittersweet. I will be thinking about this story for a long time!
