A beautifully written novel in verse. I think poetry was the perfect medium for this story. I read it and then immediately felt I needed to read it again. Lyrical and haunting. . .highly recommend!

This book is sadness from beginning to end. I really wanted to love it, and there were parts of it that I did love, bits of beautiful craft, but I just found it so difficult to live in that much despair. I book talked it to my students, and some of them gravitated toward it because they said that sounded like just what they needed.

As always I want to start this review by saying I am not own voices and as always go and read those reviews first.
This book was fantastic. The writing style was absolutely breath taking. I was emotional the whole time I was reading this book feeling every drop of grief that was poured into this book. I felt like I was going on this journey with the characters and while it hurt it was so so needed. This was just astonishing all around. My only warning is to grab some tissues because you will be crying.

Beautifully written and intricate slowly unfolding plot. The soulmate teenage poetry-at-each-other thing made me want to pull my hair out though, so I dock one star.

~ "Every iota of greenery & pavement we cross used to be Native land."
~ "The best way to get to know someone, to get beneath their skin & into the bone, is to tell a story & offer music. A story explains who you want to be; the other shows who you are."

Sad, yet quite lovely and lyrical!

This book was a pile of garbage. Anything meaningful it was trying to say is buried under piles of flowery language. The romance was insta-love. They speak as if they are stuck in a mad-libs worksheet.

AND LET ME SAVE YOU TIME:
SpoilerMe (moth) is dead. Her life/death is only to serve the purpose of her hipster boyfriend. I'm so glad he made it to Madison Square Garden. Barf.

I picked this one up after a couple of people I know raved about it. This one is beautifully written and will stay with me for a long time. I loved the way the author used verse to tell her story, including a wide range of diversity (POC, mental health, grief). I also loved the road trip aspect of it. Highly recommend this gem!

I picked up this book because I wanted something short and different. The story was easy to follow and the free form verse made me feel light. The style of the writing left me wanting more descriptions of the places Moth and Sani went. The ending was definitely a surprise. Though I'm not ranting and raving, it was still good.
