Lyrical and poignant and absolutely, stunningly beautiful. Healing and heartbreaking all at once.

Whoa! I'm not even sure what to say. My soul is crushed! (In a good way, of course!) This was a magical story full of spiritual symbolism, heartache, tragedy, love, and light. I'm still crying, while trying to figure out what to write. Even though this was a novel in verse and was a quick read, it did not diminish the impact of the story. Amazing!

This one didn't blow me away but it's a solid read. The reader will need to pay attention though, in part because of the heavy use of symbolism and imagery. It's really best suited to higher middle school and up simple because of that piece. There is nothing inappropriate so younger higher-level readers will be fine with it. Give this to your highest middle school readers and high schoolers.

A fantastic novel in verse I wasn’t able to put down. Magic and Navajo legend weave a beautiful story of fighting through the lonely darkness. It’s a clean read that will have you immediately wanting to reread.

Powerful, beautiful, mysterious, vivid-a unique blend of poetry turned novel, Ambers writing took me to another world, bringing the imagery of the words right into my minds eye. One of the favorite reads this year.

Absolutely stunning.
This captures the sharp edges of grief and loss from the voice of young woman.
