If you are an artist of any kind, then I recommend this book. Rilke's correspondence with the young poet is inspiring (as well as beautifully written) and gets at the heart of why we create art and how personal issues artists face.

I <3 Rilke he makes me feel so spiritual and grateful. Something I will probably reread a few times
Some pretty remarkable thoughts from this poet who is lesser known in the United States. Great translation, definitely will be rereading some of these letters in the future!

Reading this book for the second time, this time in French, was an incredibly enjoyable experience. I found that reading in French made it even more captivating, as I focused deeply to grasp Rilke's profound words. This man is incredibly wise and fascinating. It's mind blowing how this book can transform one's perspective on life. Among the ten letters, I must mention that letter 7 is so well written I found myself returning to it repeatedly. Without a doubt, this book has secured a place in my top 5 favorites
I adore these letters. I get something new from them every time.

Beautiful. Inspiring. Insightful for anyone but especially artists. Rilke’s outlook is romantic and poetic without being contrived or unrealistic. Undertones of Nietzsche’s philosophy and Lou von Salome’s influence are present yet in Rilke’s own words not just parroted information.

A comforting read in this challenging year of attempting to lean into a life so different from what I thought was coming.
