does it make me a cheese to say this book may very well have changed my life? the articulate advice to a young, incomplete person is unparalelled in its honesty, opennness & authenticity... from artistic expression to sex to love to walking in the woods, this short book runs the gamut & reminds us to be true to ourselves above all. thank god someone is saying it, even if it's a romantic poet.
This compilation of letters is full of fine quotes to mark and remember, but it was hard to connect to Rilke through them. It’s clear that despite the sporadic nature of his replies, Rilke liked the young poet and his work. But most of these letters read as fin-de-siecle TED talks.
