If anything it shows a sweet and intimate friendship; Rainer offers advice and gentle critique with a soft hand. Very much an introvert's book.

Cortísimo, pero me ha encantado, especialmente la segunda mitad (aunque quizás se deba a que al principio no estaba leyendo con toda mi atención). Las cartas 7 y 8 posiblemente hayan sido mis favoritas.

An interesting glimpse into the personal philosophy of Rainer Maria Rilke, through his correspondence with, naturally, a young military officer who sometimes writes poems. Even in his letters, for an audience of one, the man had an incredible sense of imagery.

I read the translation from Anita Barrows and Joanna Macy, who chose to remove certain passages from the main text and place them in the translators' notes, and I have mixed feelings on this choice. They're right that some of the passages are a little off-topic or dated to modern eyes, but on the other hand, I bought this to read his letters, warts and all.
