A nice small book full of beautiful words.
Would like to read it again and annotate.

48 annotations for a 52 page book.. insane

Rilke's outlook on life and the role introspection plays in it is what gives his writing such poignancy.

On first reading, I found this book a little too religious for my taste, but I have come to learn that Rilke was talking about a pantheistic vision of nature as god, and not of the Judeo-Christian concept of it. I'm on board with that.

His insight into relationships and his humility make him a great role model. I will re-read these many times and my only regret is that my German isn't good enough to tackle the original text. Yet.

EDIT: I have now read the translation along with the German text and while my German is still atrocious, I am slowly improving, and this is a great text to read and re-read.

I think while I was listening to the book, my friend listened to the same audiobook instance accidentally and so I ended up listening to the start, she listened to the middle and then I listened to the end 😅
Not my cup of tea so I will not continue it tbh
