This is one of this year’s Quick Reads from The Reading Agency. I have enjoyed other books by the author, Clare Mackintosh, so I added it to the pile to read at some point. I am so glad I did. I wasn’t sure how she would be able to tell such a complex story in so few pages without sacrificing quality but she did!
It is a fast paced thriller, with an interesting (and scary)concept and a great twist at the end!
The story is about a family with e teenage daughter who is waiting for a heart transplant, which she gets. The donor’s mother then gets in touch and wants to see who got her teenage son’s heart. The family, against all advice, agree to meet. They get on initially, but the donor’s mother tries to help more and give gifts, as well as spend more time together and things take a very sinister turn. I won’t say anymore other than this is a great story that will kep you hooked through a lunch break or two!

Gripping psychological mystery thriller book. This book I had me gripped from the very beginning to the very end. Such a fast pace page turner which loads of twists and turns though out it. I loved the characters especially Megan as we follower her after her heart transplant the way the author wrote her was amazing and I liked how all the other characters were written so well in this book and I liked how well everything medical in this books was described and written. This is such a suspenseful book and I am glad I picked it up to read. Xx

Against the guidelines put in place by the hospital where her daughter was a patient, a mother of an organ recipient gets together with the mother of the donor. The consequences are unexpected and potentially devastating. It is a thought-provoking story and really gets you thinking. It makes sense to want to thank the family that gave such an incredible gift, but as one of the characters says, there are reasons it's not recommended the families meet.

It takes a talented author to pack so many twists and turns into such a short book and I really enjoyed it. This is an entertaining story with a shocking ending that cries out for a sequel.
