As a kid - I never saw that coming. American Girl books were always very safe and nothing bad ever really seemed to happen, yet here is Kirsten experiencing one if the greatest heartbreaks a child can face. It makes me love this more.

I had the Kirsten doll so of course I had this first book.
Upon re-reading after such a long time, it's evident why I had no interest in continuing the series. Not a ton going for it, which is disappointing for a story that is supposed to resemble my own family history.
