Rachel Harrison is one of my favorite horror writers, but The Veil felt underwhelming. As a short story, it seemed rushed, lacking the depth and development I usually love in her work.
The eerie atmosphere and psychological tension are there, but the pacing is too quick to fully immerse in the horror. While there are moments of sharp writing and unsettling imagery, it doesn’t leave a lasting impact.
Final Verdict: A decent, eerie read for Harrison fans, but not as memorable as her longer works.
Picked this as a quick free listen on Audible. Very rushed story that did not do much for me.

I don’t know who the intended audience is for this book, but it isn’t me. Dopey, rushed, and characters that are barely there (so to speak).
