I really enjoyed getting lost in this world. The book could have been 100 pages shorter- the middle lagged

I love Kevin Kwan’s writing. This was fun and easy to read and a great piece of literature to get lost in. I have no idea what it’s like to live in this world, but yet I could follow the story to its fullest and I really enjoyed getting to know Eden and her dad, Rufus, Bea and Auggie. Super fun royalty take, and I am sad it’s over.

When you have read every other Kevin Kwan book and Crazy Rich Asians is one of your favorite movies, how can you not instantly want to devour his news novel Lies and Weddings?

The Gresham children (Rufas, Augie, and Bea) have grown up with wealth. Their father is the Earl of Grashamsbury. After outliving their means (in part to stay relevant to the social status) their family fortune has run out. Rufas’s mother comes up with the idea the he needs to get married to someone rich enough to get them out of their money troubles. What could go wrong?

This book was so immersive with the settings (London, Hawaii, Marrakech LA, Venice), along with the whole cast of characters. Kwan’s author footnotes are something I can’t live without, adding great knowledge and humor to an already hilarious book. He knows how to take a fun story and weave in a heartwarming realistic down to earth character that can navigate the crazy loud characters. With this he can convey the real meaning behind the book. You won’t want to miss this one!
