3.5 stars.

** This book has some graphic moments of child abuse (of all kinds). While I was able to stomach most of it, I did end up skimming some scenes

This was a good book. It was engaging, intriguing, and even though I guessed a few small things, it kept me guessing the big things till the end. I do have a couple of unsolved questions, and I think the ending revelation was a little too quick, without ensuing discussions - hence, my questions.

Overall, this was a good book, a bit graphic, but still engaging. But there was something missing that stopped it from being a great read.

3.5 stars so I rounded up. It was good, but predictable. Still enjoyed reading it for book club, and excited to discuss it

Bloody great thriller with a brilliant final twist!

Bored out of my mind

I wasn't sure what to expect going into In The Clearing. I haven't watched the television show, but after reading the book, I'm intrigued. The story bounces between Amy and Freya and is set over a few days. I would classify the first half of the book as a slow burn as the story unfolds for Amy and Freya, along with Freya's son.

I was completely shocked by the major twist around the 50% mark, maybe slightly beyond. After that, the book picks up pace pretty rapidly. I couldn't put it down.

I really enjoyed In the Clearing, and wish I had known about it when it first came out, but am grateful for the chance to read it now.

Thank you Mulholland Books and NetGalley for the eARC!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The plot twist in the end was something I didn't except. It was really good, although not as good as Into the forest from Tana French
