Honestly the story wasn't that great. I feel like the plot had some holes in it. The main character was portrayed not that well, she thought she was strong one moment but then she thought she was too weak (kept doing that throughout the book, like get a grip). In reality if the villain was hundreds of years old, with all the experience she's gained throughout the years no one could have beaten her with such little knowledge of the "craft". The main character didn't even have enough knowledge to even be considered a witch. The romance with the main character and Mateo was pretty dumb. -Oh girl from my dreams I have always known I've loved you.- supposedly a few months pass but they barely talk to each other. Overall I just finished it cause I wanted to get it over with. I haven't read any witch books and so I thought I'd give it a try, it wasn't really worth my time.

This fast-paced fantasy throws us into the world of Nadia, a young witch whose training is abruptly halted by her parents' divorce. Moving to the seemingly quaint town of Captive's Sound with her non-magical family, Nadia discovers a sinister secret – the town is shrouded in a dark magic!

Mateo, a local plagued by a curse that drives him mad, becomes inexplicably drawn to Nadia. Despite his efforts to push her away, they are forced to work together to break the curse and save the town.

The story unfolds with captivating mysteries and a thrilling atmosphere. Nadia is a strong and sassy protagonist, standing her ground even against formidable characters like Mateo's formidable grandmother. Verlaine, another favorite, brings a unique blend of eccentricity and intelligence to the team.

The romance between Nadia and Mateo builds steadily, though the shift from initial hesitation to deeper feelings might feel a touch rushed. Regardless, their undeniable chemistry and genuine communication make them a charming couple.

While not quite reaching "amazing" status, "Spellcaster" is a thoroughly enjoyable read with a captivating blend of magic, mystery, and a dash of romance.

This book bored me half to death. I had a very hard time getting through this. The story was too predictable and all over the place. There are still so many story lines that were started that have been barley touched yet. The characters weren't overly exciting, and frankly I could care less about what happened.
I will not be continuing on with this series.

Fun YA romance with magic! Nothing super original but not bad overall.

Four very solid stars. I liked this version of witches - it was pretty unusual and extraordinary. I enjoyed all the twists and turns of the plot and absolutely loved little Cole. Nadia was an excellent protagonist, but I'm not sure about Mateo - he annoyed me plenty of times and often was a moron. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book. Highly recommended for all the fans of witchcraft genre.

A perfectly charming dark fantasy book with just a little more depth than I expected from it, and a simple but lovely magic system.

I started off very interested in the book, but got less and less so as it went on. The premise wasn't bad, but the instalove was a bit annoying. As were the many descriptions of the gooey gazes between Nadia and Mateo. I totally felt for Verlaine having to endure that. It wasn't the best book by far, but I'm interested in seeing what happens in the second book.

For a very cliche Ya supernatural book, this wasn't terrible. Too mushy for my taste but it could be worst.
