“She missed death the first time it came for her, and she was ready—maybe even eager—for it here. For that last, final, ultimate hiding place, the darkness in which no one could ever find her.”

This was a pretty intense read! I really wanted something a bit spookier and I did get that from this book. I liked the Greek mythological themes, and the character growth. A lot of the book tells the backstory of the characters which I found quite interesting too.
The story explores history and how choices from generations ago affect our lives and the lives of our families, and even strangers, for hundreds of years. That some traditions deserve to die.
Definitely a great read and highly recommend for someone looking for something a bit darker (but not overwhelmingly so)!

This was a wild ride of a book where you follow a group of people who signed up for a hide and seek challenge at an amusement park for some money and potentially some fame.

Or is it?

The wild pace of this book was hard to keep with in a good way. However, I would definitely recommend physically reading the book. The book jumps between character points of view with little warning and it was hard to keep track of the large cast initially - although the cast shrank very quickly. The stakes of this book were constantly raised and it was tense til the end.

My main complaint with the book was the ending and just how abrupt it was. It was an explosive way to finish the book and you are left with fewer answers than I was expecting for a book of this kind. Overall, an enjoyable read that has some surprisingly good commentary of the value of people over wealth and some queerness that just existed.
